Tatties!

We've been out on the road with our Aberdeenshire Libraries drop-in sessions and it's been so inspiring hearing how you've all been getting on with your seeds and seed tatties.

The weather has certainly been a challenge this year and I'm afraid that my own crops have really struggled. It was hot and dry at the start of the season, then we had a cold snap, and we're now in a hot phase following a wet summer! The one thing you predict about Aberdeenshire weather is that it's unpredictable.

Well done to everyone who has managed to keep going in these conditions. If this was your first year of growing veg you deserve a huge pat on the back if you have harvested things because it has been very hard work for seasoned growers too!

One crop that does seem to have done well though are the tatties. I'm hearing all over that on the whole people have had great results from their tatties. This year we (with the very wonderful One Seed Forward) gave away hundreds of kilos of tatties all around Aberdeenshire and they included Cara, Colleen and Java varieties.

Have you harvested any tatties yet? What are your favourites and how are you cooking them?
